About Dr. Gary Matsumura

Gary Matsumura, MD, graduated from medical school at Loma Linda University and completed his residency in Los Angeles. At age 29 he and his family moved to Fairfield, CA where he practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Vacaville, Fairfield and Vallejo, CA for 37 years.

He estimates that he has delivered about 9,000 babies.

Dr. Matsumura sees the humorous side of obstetrics. He has written stories that blend multiple genres including humor, memoir, women’s interest, medicine, travel, minority, and LGBT issues. He shares many of those stories in his book Adventures in Obstetrics, and he shares some of those stories here on his Blog.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Matsumura has served on the boards of his local hospitals. He was Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at NorthBay Medical Center for many years.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar, bass, and ukulele. He plays tennis. He has a wife, two children that have left home, and two cats that have not.
